Kresge Arts in Detroit recognizes photography as an art form as well as a means of documenting the world around us. The Featured Photographer initiative spotlights a previously awarded photographer’s work on a monthly basis.
In May 2023, Cybelle Codish (2019 Kresge Artist Fellow) was invited to participate in the Featured Photographer pilot. Cybelle is an award-winning photojournalist who has traveled the globe as a tour and editorial photographer. Her work has been featured in Rolling Stone, National Geographic, Martha Stewart, and Taschen, as well as record labels including Motown, Universal, Capitol, Warner, and Atlantic.
For one year, Cybelle photographed local performances and exhibitions by Kresge Artist Fellows and Gilda Award recipients with her own artistic lens. The photographs showcasing her unique interpretation of metro Detroit artists’ work were presented each month on social media.
