Work-in-Progress: Ed Fraga

This work on paper is titled: "Home." It is from 2019 and the material is; gesso, oil, wood, cigarette butt on blueprint. As part of the ongoing series, "Sanctuary" (started in 2014), this is one of over 30 paintings of which 15 are currently in an exhibition, "Rising" at the Robinson Gallery in Birmingham, Michigan. However, due to Coronavirus the show is on hold.⁣

⁣Home has become our sanctuary during these dark days throughout the world. I hope when this passes we will all find ourselves safe to resume our lives.

In response to social isolation guidelines, Kresge Arts in Detroit asked Kresge Artist Fellows and Gilda Award recipients to give us a glimpse into their current and recent projects. Participating artists received stipends of $150, a quick response pivot of resources that could be implemented by the program as an immediate - albeit small level - of support to Detroit area artists.
