Work-in-Progress: The Hinterlands

The Nightwatchman is a cut-up detective play about isolation, literary obsession, art-as-survival-strategy, and the end of youth. Inspired by the early writings of Roberto Bolaño, the piece is being made through personal writing, textual adaptation, physical improvisation, and experimentation with analog projection and radio broadcast technology. Created by @richie_hinterland, @bailingzhi, and @_renalien_ with dramaturgy by Antonin Chambon.

In response to social isolation guidelines, Kresge Arts in Detroit asked Kresge Artist Fellows and Gilda Award recipients to give us a glimpse into their current and recent projects. Participating artists received stipends of $150, a quick response pivot of resources that could be implemented by the program as an immediate - albeit small level - of support to Detroit area artists.
